it was amazing

Harlan Coben introduces a new character and cast of supporting characters in Deal-Breaker. Myron Bolitar is not your normal mystery-solving protagonist...he's a sports agent! More specifically, he's a northern NJ-based sports agent, working in the city and around the Meadowlands trying his best to represent his clients to the local "Titans"...if he can survive, that is, in the cut-throat world of high stakes representation of professional athlete super-stars. In Deal-Breaker he'll have to prevail against mob-style bosses, sharks, drug-dealers, bruisers, enforcers...and that's just during his day job as an agent! He's got a smart mouth which is as entertaining as ever, and in typical Coben fashion he doesn't refrain from inserting his scathing societal observations quite frequently throughout the 3rd person narrative. He'd never make it if not for the timely companionship of his interesting and equally wry friend Win (short for Windsor), who plays an admirable Watson to Myron's Holmes, and Esperanza, his attractive business administrator whose background is full of enjoyable surprises including a stint as a professional female wrestler 'back in the day'. The three make for a super-fun and intense team of colleagues united in their efforts on behalf the MB Sports Agency as well as their commitment to solving the central mystery in the story. In Deal-Breaker Myron is representing the next QB superstar... a young man everyone loves and who has endured terrible tragedy. And just as he's about to cement the deal with the Titans, he receives a pornographic magazine containing a small advertisement featuring his missing (and presumed dead) girlfriend in an ad for a sex phone line. Is she alive and has she turned to this? Is it a set up? Is someone trying to create a controversy around the young QB and "lower his stock"? Nothing is clear and only Myron and Wynn...joined by the missing girl's sister, the beautiful Jessica, who just so happens to be Myron's ex... can hope to solve the convoluted plot. The story, the characters and the mystery are all equally engaging, and won't disappoint. Another Harlan Coben novel is out- so of course, it's time to celebrate! And get to reading...
