Love, LOVE, LOVE! this book! The kids and I listened to this on CD, and I couldn't wait for the end, so I had to get the hard copy and secretly finish on my own. This story is loosely based on events from the author's life of growing up in the Ozark Mountains. There are so many values taught and reinforced, and all of the characters try to lead upstanding lives, which always inspires me. The main character (Billy) is an amazing kid. It's sort of a coming-of-age book for boys, but our whole family loved this book. I could read this 100 times.
