Dempsey's look into LA newswomen, and their short shelf lives, is compelling, but painful. I actually started and stopped the book several times, as it was hard to read about her protagonist, a 40-year-old, soon-to-be-divorcee, getting ill-used by both her boss and her ex. Unfortunately, I'd guess this story is probably quite realistic for the industry. (Another Kindle Freebie.)
