(I would actually go 3.5 here, if I could!)

Ahh, Divergent. I really wanted to read this book; the hype was huge, the cover is gorgeous, the plot synopsis has all the things I look for in a book. Unfortunately the hype fell a little flat for me. I did enjoy it; and I did finish it. I will say it got better towards the end. Most of the things that bothered me weren't real problems with the prose or book.

I like a lot of world-building exposition, which there wasn't in Divergent. You're left wondering why things are as they are and what the heck (view spoiler)

This takes us to the things I didn't like; mostly personal preference. Abnegation seemed to me as very Christianity-oriented, even though Tris herself says in the beginning that not all Abnegation families believe in God. (view spoiler)

There are some little inconsistencies that bothered me too, (view spoiler)

I'm happy Tris mentioned that bullying is cowardly. A lot of what I liked about the book dealt with how each person can see virtue in a different way - How the definition of Bravery changed (view spoiler) What exactly is bravery, anyway?

I am definitely going to read Insurgent. I want to know more about this world, about Tris and what's going to happen to her. (view spoiler)

Gina Don't know why but mine, (epub, nook) shows only 299 pages.

Gina Edited review. Didn't want to sound nasty, not sure if I did.
