I haven't read a lot of books in the new adult and contemporary women's fiction genre but the blurb of this book really piqued my interest and the story just drew me in. This may not be for a younger audience though because of some possible triggers. Phoebe, the protagonist, is a young woman who is trying to figure out what she wants after all the obstacles she has gone through in her life. She is not the most likeable character at times which is not bad at all. Phoebe has dealt with failure, grief, and abuse and she has made some bad decisions. I think the author wrote and built up her character in such a realistic way. The other characters were dynamic and made the story more interesting. This book took me on an emotional roller coaster. Like a Closed Fist is a great read. I highly recommend reading this book. I assure you that you won't be disappointed.
