This was a fast and interesting read. The focus of the story is two teenagers, one an immigrant from Mexico, the other from Panama. They live in an apartment complex full of other immigrants, and throughout their story are shorter chapters that look into the lives of their neighbors in the complex. You learn how and why some of the other characters came to the US, and so get a sense of the varying experiences of immigrants, legal and illegal.
