Alison's Reviews > Arcadia
This is the story of Bit, who's born in a commune called Arcadia and grows up there, leaving as a teenager when the group disbands. The first portion of the book is set entirely in the commune during his childhood and adolescence, and was a really interesting story. The second half transitions to his life as an adult, raising a daughter. It took me a little while to settle into that part of the novel, but overall I really liked the way this was structured. You see not just how his relationships are shaped by growing up in Arcadia, and you also see how some of the most important relationships of his childhood play out later in life, in a fairly natural way.
