really liked it

Allende is such a great writer. I also like the historical settings of her books (this is my way of learning history as I do not read much of it!). Her characters are magical. The subject matter is often tough (in this book, slavery, rape, massacres etc). But her characters are quite interesting (and there's a lot of "good" in the book) so it was not hard to read.

Sage I have always meant to read one of her novels. I read a short story of hers years ago and loved it. It was sad but beautiful. I'll add this to my list.
