really liked it

A warm hearted and ultimately life affirming read that seemingly gives great insight in life as a black maid inthe racially segregated and prejudiced Jackson Mississippi of 1962. Although one feels a little uncomfortable about a white writer drawing on her experiences of growing up in that world giving voice to the black "help", the stories and characters have a ring of truth and draw one into the difficult tale of the struggle for civil rights at the time.
