This book was written years after the first three (and Anne's House of Dreams) books were written. This novel tells the story of Anne as a principal at a small school while Gilbert is away at Medical School. The story is fun and there are some unforgettable characters, but it is not as good as some of the other Anne books. This book is also tells Anne's life as a teacher/principal throught letters. I miss Gilbert's presence in the book, because we can on infer what he says from Anne's letters-- he never speaks for himself through letters or otherwise. It is a good book overall-- just not one I would read again.
