it was amazing
bookshelves: classic, favorites, own, western-europe
Read in January, 1998

I read this book because it was a classic, with no real knowledge of the story, except that Andy Dufrane said it was about a prison break. I was pleasantly surprised at how intersting it is. We see the protagonist experience an incredible reversal of fortunes (for the worse) due to no fault of his own, and watch as he deals with the anguish of his misfortune, and his subsequent choices. He becomes a completely different man in order to exact his revenge, then must decide how far he is willing to go.
