What! Wow. Tremendous! Enormously thrilling! Shocking, too. Not every character makes it. I really wanted all of these brave and quirky characters to survive - except for the bad 'god' from Black London, of course. We don't always get what we want, though. What we readers do get in 'A Conjuring of Light', book three in the Shades of Magic series, is a Big Blockbuster Finish!

This thrilling YA fantasy series will definitely take you away from a dull week of work or school! Every book in the series is entertaining, full of action and angst. Powerful magicians struggle to master their craft, and each other, while at the same time they are trying to save two of the four Londons from different universes.

However, readers definitely should not begin with 'A Conjuring of Light' which concludes the struggle with an evil entity from Black London. Instead, begin with book one, A Darker Shade of Magic. The world building and the magic is unique, the writing is muscular and the best magicians are young toughs who learned first from the school of hard knocks. The strongest magicians are feared, not loved, no matter what class of family they are born into and no matter that they did not choose to be Antari. People are glad such powerful beings of magic are rare, although almost everyone has a power or two, at least in all of the Londons except Grey. Sometimes, though, Antari are the only people who can stand against those who bring complete destruction! If only Antari magicians can put aside their natural antipathies and suspicions about each other...which they had better, because the people they love might die!

Each novel is a roller coaster ride, building to several crescendos of action after more calm scenes of world building and character development. Plot threads unravel in book after book, so the series absolutely must be read in order.
