It's refreshing to know that bawdiness, scatological humor, and sexual innuendo are not mere products of 20th century cinema, but can in fact be found in this romping 16th century work by Herr Rabelais. Giving that it is over 400 years old, it is quite readable -though it would be near impossible without the excellent notes provided in the Penguin edition. Hooray for Rabelais!
