** spoiler alert ** This was a very enjoyable installment in the Sookie Stackhouse story. I find that I enjoyed this story better then some of the previous volumes because there was some real development in Sookie's character. She is beginning to re-develop her sense of independence, and although she does still manage to be manipulated by those around her, she is at least beginning to realize it and resist. Also, as much as I like the vampires in the book, I like that she is drawing away from them a bit and looking towards a more realistic future. It sounds romantic at first but no mortal can really live a normal life with a vampire, and perhaps Sookie is beginning to think harder about that. And, perhaps, I sense a relationship between Sookie and Sam developing in the future? That would be a satisfactory way for her to end up, in my opinion...
