I am a rabid history fan - even more so history involving George Washington - and it took me 3 years to finish this book. Although I am intimately familiar w/ the subject matter, reading this book was like walking thru Jell-o.
When it was published I had just finished Washington's Crossing by David Hackett Fischer and anxiously awaited the release of this highly touted book. Sadly, unlike Fischer's book it was so dry and fact filled that I kept putting it down. Then, months later, when I picked it up I wld have to reread much of what I'd read before to figure out where I was.
I finally forced myself to finish one week when bedridden w/ the flu. At least it helped me sleep.
Save your sanity and read Washington's Crossing!
