One Day by David Nicholls

The story in this book is set in England and revolves around two characters, Dexter and Emma, who meet the day of college graduation and start a two decade friendship. The book tells the story of their lives on the anniversary of the day they met (July 15) every year. It explores their individual lives as well as the journey their friendship takes. Dexter's character drove me nuts, but Emma was very relatable. For the first three-quarters of the novel, the book is very structured, but by the end, the story seems rushed and the structure breaks down. It almost feels like two separate books. The ending is heartbreaking and depressing and I probably should have put this book aside near the beginning, when I wasn't falling in love with it.
