Wow!!! Love, love, loved it! It's the first one of the Alex Cross series by James Patterson. He's a super author. Where do you get a brain that thinks the way his does? He comes up with the most interesting ideas. He keeps you interested right to the end. I'm going to read the whole series. I read one a long time ago, but it was out of order. Didn't realize at first that it was a series. Someone wrote about this one and I remembered how much I enjoyed the last one I read. I'm hooked! I've read many other of his books and enjoyed them all. Well, I'm not too interested in his women's murder club books though or the new young adult books he has out, but all his others are fantastic. Alex Cross is an honest, almost workaholic detective and psychologist with two kids who lives with his grandmother since his wife died. He works amongst a group of people in different law professions who are not always on the "up-and-up" as you say. Every single character has a very distintive personality. His best friend, the one he works with, is amusing, supportive in an up front way. Doesn't gloss over anything. Just what Alex needs. The murderer is absolutely psycho. You never know where his mind is and you won't know what the truth about his personality is, even at the end. Well, I drew my own conclusions and I think I know for sure :-) You'll have to make up your own mind. I can't describe how involved and complex this story is. You'll have to read for yourself. You'll be hooked by the end of the first chapter.
