This sweet story conveys a nice message of sharing along with factual information about flowers and how to transplant them to pots for the winter season. Included after the story is a wealth of information about plants, their life cycle, flowers, and how to pot them. The colored pencil illustrations are large, doing a great job of depicting the story and using soft colors to reflect the focus on nature. However, one flaw may make the book appear dated to today’s readers: the mother rabbit uses a large, prominent flip phone (as opposed to a smart phone) for her call. Still, the book is successful in its messages and will be especially useful for introducing plant concepts to science classes of first to third graders.
