I took a while to get into this story which initally annoyed me, - the narrator being a god watching a family and commenting on the actions of them and other gods, whose life the author centres around physical desire, was a difficult voice to att8une to. Once I had got over this it rolled along, the commentary on our perceived intentions and actions and the 'real' view of the immortals became quite enlightening. The author draws parallels between our perceptions and thinking and what might be considered to actually underpin our actions - i.e. the manipulations of the unseen spirit world. Not bad.
