March: Book One

Fantastic blend of gentle, quiet memoir and serious civil rights history. I remember learning about the lunch counter sit-ins in US History class, but I'm seeing these narratives in a new light these days. I love how this book makes desegregation feel less inevitable, which makes each protestor's work all the more heroic. I was also very surprised to learn that Lewis was inspired by a comic book about Dr. King's work way back in the day.
