3.5 stars. This turned out to be a fun, escapist read. It has all sorts of things I like: architectural talk, history, a puzzle to solve, a mysterious disappearance, ciphers, and an old city. The characters weren't super original but they were grown-ups with real problems and they were fun to hang with. Oh, and the heroine can ghosts which aren't always nice & friendly. She's spent her life trying to deny it so people won't think she's a freak but is finally forced to face up to it and deal with it as well as issues from her past. I liked it and will read more of this series.
