This was a difficult book to read. I found it powerful and thought-provoking, but not particularly enjoyable (the bullying was just so, so heart-breaking). The number one thing I'd heard about this book going in was "It's being compared to To Kill a Mockingbird, but it's no To Kill a Mockingbird," to which I would agree. I can see why the comparison is being made, but also why it doesn't fit (mostly, this main character is simply not Scout Finch). Anyway, I think this is a valuable book, and contributes a valuable discussion on the subject of bullying, but it's certainly not a light or easy read.
