This was a 4.5 for me. Not quite in my top 50 books of all time, but very good. Compared to the A Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, Common Orbit is relatively low action. It's about the relationships between peoples, machines, and the fuzzy boundaries that separate them. It's about family, purpose, and finding the place where you belong, all in a well fleshed-out space opera setting.

If you're looking for a fast-paced page turner, this might not be for you. Aside from that, if you like science fiction, you should give this one a try.

(Also, although it is technically a sequel to A Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, I think you could easily read Common Orbit on its own without missing a beat.)
