Set deep in the South amidst the chaos of the Civil War, this novel brings the harsh reality of battle to life with both North and South perspectives. Union volunteer, Philip Burke, uses his medical skills to survive his capture by Confederate forces. A Union doctor, he must make do with an antebellum home as a hospital and save soldiers he once counted as his enemies. Stakes are raised when the lady of the house steals his heart and makes him question his convenient fiancee far away in the North.

Keeping our vows is at the heart and height of honor, and author, Linda Swift, treats plainly and delicately the conundrum of love against all odds. There is violence and greed in this epic, sweeping romance, but for this story, love the second time around is passionate and true. Swift brings history to life, including the gritty reality of the bloody era and tasteful, satisfying romance. This Time Forever reminds us it truly was a time of lost men, lost hearts, and a gilded society ravaged and destroyed by war.
