really liked it

It took me a while to warm up to this book which tells about one man's experience walking the Camino de Santiago pilgrim route across Spain. The author, Hape Kerkeling, is a famous comedian in his native Germany yet I found him to be rigid, a little whiny and not very amusing at the beginning. As time went on he began to grow on me as he warmed to the task of walking 400 miles. I could see myself in the various aspects of his personality that came through during the endless miles on the trail and interactions with fellow pilgrims. I checked out a YouTube clip of his comedy routine and he seems to be very funny and has the ability to speak (or pretend to speak) several languages. It's too bad that his humor didn't come through more in the book, but I think Kerkelling does a very good job of showing how a person who is open to new experiences might benefit from such a journey.
