I listened to this during a car ride and I wish I had read the book instead. This is not to say that author David McCullough is poor narrator-- far from it! He's got a gentle grandfather voice that sounds like he's speaking from experience, rather than relating events from two centuries ago. I just would have liked to see the maps of the battles and troop movements for my own further understanding.

The book itself is wonderful. In school, we learn about the glories of the Revolutionary War, but rarely of the defeats. McCullough gives us an un-whitewashed history that further highlights the courageous personalities of those who participated in events.
