really liked it
bookshelves: economics

This was a quick easy to read book that almost makes you wish for higher gas prices. He makes it seem like all the world's problems would be solved if only we could run out of oil sooner.

While some of the problems he suggests are correct, and it is obvious that as oil gets more expensive things will have to change, I just can't see the $20 per gallon future that he is describing. At some point long before $20 a lot of the people will be forced to give up on oil as a source of energy.

Steiner does have a interesting way of tying in a lot of things to the price of oil that I would never have thought about. Everything from B-52s to school buses and high school sports gets a mention in his look at our future of higher oil prices.
