c2005. An unexpectedly good read. The protagonist, Kingsley/Marlowe is not a particularly nice character and as he is described: "He was constantly surprised to discover that the fact that he usually did know better in no way mitigated people's irritation at his all-encompassing assurance." I'm surprised at the rapidity with which Nurse Murray, who has an avowed hatred of policemen, manages to fall in love quite as quickly as she professes and that she would be so sexually forward after having suffered a sexual assault. But, hey, funny things happen in a war situation. I thought the plot was well thought out with a well structured and satisfying ending.
