it was amazing

Prolific children's author and illustrator, Susan Day, triumphs with this, the seventh instalment, in brilliant action-adventure series, Astro's Adventures. This was my first outing with Astro and his rag tag group of heroic mutts but I'm really keen to read more. I would highly recommend these web-interactive books to parents or grandparents looking for a new series to get their middle-graders hooked on reading.

Neptune's Trident picks up with canine crusaders Astro, Commander Rocky and Stella D'Oro, leading their gang on another dangerous mission to find King Neptune's lost (or is it stolen?) trident. Pitched against their nemesis, devious alley cat Speed Bump Charlie, and a band of marauding catfish pirates, Astro's gang will need every bit of help they can get. What roles will new arrival Icky, the ugly dog, and Sherman, the slimy sea monster, play in their rescue attempts? Hopefully enough to save the mad king's trident and to make sure the canine gang survive to be the protectors of vulnerable dogs around the world.

With underlying themes of animal welfare, environmental preservation, bravery and friendship, this book has a social conscience and young readers will appreciate its idealism mixed with its fast-paced adventure. And with part proceeds from sales going to animal shelters, Astro's Adventures is a book series very worth supporting!
