it was amazing
bookshelves: axe-factory, adorations

It's all very well to occasionally throw in a broccoli or two into the plate and create one's own illusion of well being, but to tie up your laces and pound the streets day after day, mile after lonely mile, watching your pace, watching your breathing, watching your muscles, soaking in the deepest hues of blue of your inner sky that is cleared of all thought clouds, entering that cozy void of silence, listening only to your inner voice, treating running as a metaphor for life - Man, RESPECT!

Have always wondered how in his books Murakami brings in that intimacy, that dream-like quality that bypasses rationality where it is unnecessary, that acute vividness and heightened sense of impetus of the seemingly mundane and the supposedly unimportant. This book clearly showed how, in typical Murakami style, revealing only those aspects of his life that he wants the readers to know - free of any empty, vacuous motivational jargon and overblown hope - eloquent with the complete acceptance and commitment to the pain and loneliness of the hard yards. A truly insightful memoir!
