it was amazing
bookshelves: historical-fiction, children-s-books, newberry-award, j-historical-fiction

For some reason this book caught my eye, and I started reading it and was drawn in right away. The format is perfect for conveying the haunting mood of the period. After reading a number of children's historical fiction on the great depression, I wasn't looking to read another, but this was definately worth it! Very powerful, yet easy to read. Excellent for children to learn about the period as well as apreciation of poetry and music.
