If we had half stars, it'd be 3 and a half. I'm not exactly sure how to describe the book; warring gangs of werewolves/wild dogs survive (or not) in LA. Parts of the book are pretty gruesome, but it's written in free verse, so it didn't seem completely horrific. I'm still not quite sure why the author chose to write this way. The cynic in me thinks it was done to make the book "different" or "quirky," but I'll also leave room for the fact that I don't "get" poetry, so maybe I'm missing something.

I did quite enjoy the love story that's interwoven with the violence, and I was quite surprised (and pleased) with the ending.
