did not like it
bookshelves: listened-to, read-in-2017

Not sure why I took time to listen to the whole thing, probably hoping things would get better, but they never really do, except maybe for a few last pages.
I did not like this book at all.
No, they are not different because they are Asian-Americans and feel they can't fit in.
No, their real problem is they (children and parents alike) are all too typical: self-centered, shallow, thinking only about their own interests, ignoring those living next to them, in their home, in their school, at their work place.
Take time to listen to others, ask them questions, forget about yourself a minute, and life will get so much more exciting.

As for the audio performance:
The narrator was good, in the sense that her depressing, somewhat lifeless tone of voice totally fit in with the ambiance of the book.
Nothing uplifting there.
