it was ok
bookshelves: historical-novel

This was kind of a pot boiler. The ending was beyond ludicrous, and the action throughout was graphic about plague illness in a sensationalizing way. The audio version I listened to was narrated by the author, and she did a beautiful job of that. But I don't expect to be reading any more of Geraldine Brooks. I liked the People of the Book, but in retrospect it also had some pot boiling tendencies.
