If you have not run across NG, I would recommend reading this or American Gods. Every book I read by this writer is better than the last. I really like his take on the concept of the deities. In this one two brothers are the sons of an ancient African spider god. A mischievous and clever god, like Bugs Bunny, (who is based on Brer Rabbit from the Uncle Remus stories, which is based on these african parables). A great book.
