it was amazing

Powerful stuff. I really like Kushner's ideas on history/religious culture as exclusionary and entrapping modes of community. America, he says, is new, lacks any such nationally unified culture. What institutions do stand in place can be shaken apart, aligning an American community (rather than having a fractured gay community, Jewish community, legal community, etc.) across suffering and common suffering/the existential human experience. It reminds me of Shelley's Prometheus Unbound. Both imagine a radical potential for change and regeneration through crisis and death.
