really liked it
bookshelves: audio, read-in-2011, mystery, comedy
Recommended for: Anyone who liked The Big Lebowski
Read in September, 2010 — I own a copy

If you took all the great lines in -The Big Lebowski- and changed them into beautiful philosophical prose about the minutiae of the 60s and early 70's, add in a couple characters too many to make it harder to follow you get -Inherent Vice-. It's hilarious. It's retro-cool. The main character is a stoner PI - he's totally "the Dude" except he has a license.

MY GOD this man can write - and he's funny for an old dude. The story might have made more sense if I had read it instead of listened to it on audio but then I would have missed out on the cool funny stoner voices.

Must read more Pynchon.
