I read "The Outsiders" as a teen. I re-read it as part of an "Classics" online book club. It's a wonderful book for teens. I can understand why it has become a classic. Ponyboy, Darry and Sodapop are three brothers who fight to stay together after their parents are killed in an auto accident. The brothers along with their friends, Dally, Johnny, Tow-Bit and Steve make up the group of have nots known as the "Greasers" who clash with the group of haves known as the "Socs" The story is narrated by Ponyboy and is truly ageless. It could have been set in the 50's as easily as in today's society.

I remember the story but I still cried when Johnny died.
