really liked it

Although this book is not as gripping as the first installment, it still earns 4.4 out of five stars from me.
Blanca is evolving. Most of the time, her reactions and responses still don't make sense, but I think they're realistic considering how she grew up and what she's been through.
Two things kept this from being a five star book:
1. Too many unexplained coincidental things having to do with Vestals, Guardians or technology.
2. Not a clear problem with a resolution to sustain the story. In short, this felt like a connecting piece between the trauma of book one and what is sure to be Blanca unraveling the mystery in book three.
Lots of thought-provoking themes addressed in this series. If you think technology has claws, you'd be interested to see how Bardsley shows them in this series.
