Catalysis by Metals: Course Held in Les Houches, 19-29 March 1996

This is a book of selected papers on the interaction of molecules in the gas phase with those on metal surfaces or aggregates. I found half of them very useful – one is in French. An intuitive, non-mathematical description of the physics at surfaces is given in one paper well suited for the novice (like me). Interaction boils down to matching the right orbitals between gas and surface. Another paper does provide a variety of different math models to characterize each, though they could use some elaboration. Have your Atkins Physical Chemistry text handy, as he’ll come to the rescue for many undefined terms and procedures.
