This was an interesting novel which explored themes of family, faith and grief. The writing style was clear and easy to read. As I am not religious, I struggled a bit to understand the motivations of some of the characters, as in many cases these were firmly underpinned by an unquestioning faith which I could not relate to. I would also have liked to have seen a stronger resolution of the narrator's relationship with her deeply flawed father. But overall this was an interesting read which provided insights into a way of life and worldview very different from mine.
