really liked it
bookshelves: 2011, audio-books, nonfiction

Unevenly written, but very engaging. Legendary cult film director John Waters seeks out people who influenced him, from Johnny Mathis to Lady Zorro (a terrifying burlesque dancer). He waxes poetic about art, fashion, porn, and philosophy. I almost imagine him holding court at a cocktail party and talking about the people from his past.

As to be expected from John Waters parts were incredibly disgusting. Parts were hilarious. Parts were moving.

I listened to the audio book read by the author, which I recommend. Recommended for fans of John Waters or outlaw art.
