really liked it

Katz has a way of sharing his experiences with animals that seems as if he is sitting across a table from you. His stories do not seem to want to instruct or criticize, yet they offer many opportunities for self-reflection.

I have a similar story about a border collie I adopted from a local shelter years ago. After having him for nearly two years, he attacked me - seemingly unprovoked, but in a seizure-like fit similar to Orson's behavior. Like Katz, I made the decision to put him down, knowing that if he would do this to me without warning, he was dangerous to everyone and I was only the beginning.

Orson's story gave me the opportunity to reflect on what happened with my dog years ago and to think about my own relationship with animals before then, and since. This book had me laughing and crying. I've been there, too.
