liked it
bookshelves: scifi

Pro: the world is extraordinary - unique and engrossing

Con: was somehow left wishing for more from the dialogue/character interactions, which seemed somehow unconvincing and at times shallow (in the sense that I found it hard to believe that various characters would let things go or be persuaded to do things so easily).

This book feels like the opposite of of "Paladin of Souls" by Lois McMaster Bujold. In that one, the character emotions/motivations/dialogue are exquisitely done, but the world doesn't engage me. If these two writers ever got together what an amazing story they'd produce!

The ultimate test: would I read Book #3 is this series? YES
