“The irony is that while God doesn't need us but still wants us, we desperately need God but don't really want Him most of the time. He treasures us and anticipates our departure from this earth to be with Him-and we wonder, indifferently, how much we have to do for Him to get by.”

–Francis Chan

This book has been cited as one of the most influential in the lives of some of the people closest to me. After reading it myself, I can understand how it connected with them deeply on a personal level and had a profound impact in the way they viewed God.

That said, I didn't quite have the same experience. Maybe I just went into it with too much hype. Maybe I was a bit disappointed to have mostly read this on an airplane with most of the pages telling me to go online and look at things. Still, I enjoyed certain points very much and found them spiritually stirring.
