For me, this was one of those, "Huh, I never thought of it that way before," books. The problem isn't so much Google itself. If, say, Halliburton or Comcast were turning into the sole guardian of information on the internet, defining, if not controlling how we access it, we'd be in much worse shape. But despite it's benevolence, Google simply has too much influence, and usurping some of the important civic roles of academic and governmental institutions.
