really liked it

I actually read this and then read the second in the series, Silesian Station. There are two more which I haven't gotten to yet. They are worth reading in order.

This will remind readers, at first, of Philip Kerr's Berlin Noir tragedy and the other five (?) book also staring detective Bernie Gunther.

But Dowing does stake out his own territory. Just as Bernie Gunther gave use the detective-eye view of Nazi Berlin, Downing's John Russell, half American, half-Brit journalist gives us another view of those complicated times. It is amazing so many authors can mine this place and time and still come up with great reads.

If you like Alan Furst and Kerr you'll love these books. I'm going to read all four and then read them again.
