** spoiler alert ** I can't believe this has been given such a high rating. It's repetitive, long, shallow and repetitive. :)

Although it has a good story and a promising plot I really disliked this book.

My main dislike of this book is that the love that grew between Kahlen and Richard was so true and so wonderful at the end of book one, but cast aside in book two without much realism. Richard should never have believed that Kahlen didn't love him. Every time I read about how she had sent him away I wanted to throw the book out the window.

Richard acted like a man in book one. He was intelligent and clever and could see many levels to any problem. Here he jumped to many stupid conclusions and then couldn't see past them.

Zedd's whole thread was just silly and the prophesies were so nicely tied up I couldn't buy into them.

And last, as another reviewer said, every woman was raped or near-raped. Too much torture and violence - to the point of being ridiculous.

This was a great disappointment.
