Gia is a little anxious about her mother having a baby. Over time she is noticing that everyone is talking about this new baby. After a while she even calls it the ding-dang baby since it is all that is going on around her. But she still has the moments with her mom when they share their love for pecan pie. There is no father shown during the book but it was not something I noticed until i read the reviews and saw the subject being single parent family. In the end Gia is reassured that her mom will miss their special moments too. It was a 2011 horn book honor book.
