Mary Pope Osborne treats readers to an inside look at one of her favorite subjects—the theater. Jack and Annie travel back to Elizabethan England where they meet the Bard of Avon himself, William Shakespeare, and luckily for them he is desperate for two small actors for his latest play!

I love the way Osborne introduces topics that children are not usually exposed to and simply bring them to life and possibly pique their interest. This book compares the theatre then and now and introduces William Shakespeare It also deals with the anxiety of performing, yet the thrill that comes with a job well done. No wonder young readers like her books so much. They really are adventures.
